USIC Regional Director, Mid Atlantic, Chris Russ was elected President of the North Carolina 811 (NC811) Board of Directors and Vice President of Operations by the organization's Board of Directors on July 16, 2021.
NC 811 is a nonprofit organization which receives notifications of proposed excavation, as required by law, from contractors, homeowners, and utilities. It then notifies the public utilities responsible for locating and marking their underground facilities prior to the excavation.
Chris has served on the NC811 Board in a range of leadership roles since April 2012. In his new role as President, he will lead NC811 in its mission to promote damage prevention and safe digging through communication of excavation activities and to educate facility operators, excavators, and the general public.
"I will continue to help the Board stay focused on our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats as technology and the industry continue to evolve and work to ensure that we change our strategies as necessary to remain successful and complete our mission," Chris stated.
"We are proud of Chris' commitment to protecting our North Carolina communities through his leadership for both USIC and NC811," Bill Dalecky, USIC Senior Vice President Operations, commented. "Chris is an excellent representative of the damage prevention industry with the knowledge and perspective to help lead NC811 into the future."
