Technician Extinguishes Fire on Side of House

Eastern Missouri Expert Technician Alex Kirkman noticed smoke coming from a pop-up batting net on the side of a house. He responded to find the siding on the house beginning to warp from the heat of a fire, started by the burning of leaves, that was spreading to the neighboring yard.

He knocked on the front door of the house to notify those inside. A woman and her son came outside and were struggling to put out the flames with rakes and a garden hose while Alex ran to his truck, retrieved his fire extinguisher, and put out the fire. He is grateful to have been driving by at just the right time to notice and respond to the fire before it could ignite the house.

“I want to do my job and make sure I’m doing the right thing every day,” Alex commented.
